The owner is an IDEA-certified technician (the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation), the business is family-run, and the site lists the whole spread, repair through new doors, with Clopay as the install line. Coverage runs across Athens, Meigs, Perry, Gallia, Morgan, Vinton, Hocking, Jackson, Washington, and Mason counties.

Hours listed are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. That evening window is unusual in this trade and useful if you get home from Columbus at six and find the door halfway down. Weekends are closed per the site. Free estimates on installs, phone estimates on repairs.

If you want the most local answer with a certification behind it, this is the call to make first.

2. Brunk’s Overhead Doors (Carbon Hill)

Brunk’s is the widest catalog within twenty minutes of Athens. The site carries C.H.I., Haas, and Wayne Dalton doors and services Chamberlain, Genie, LiftMaster, and Linear openers. It also runs a real commercial line: sectional commercial doors, full-view, high-performance, and rolling steel. If you manage a shop building on East State or a barn past Amesville with a twelve-foot opening, this is the deepest local bench for that.

Residential repair is on the menu too, broken springs through panels, and the site lists emergency service outside the Monday to Friday, 8 to 5 hours. Athens, Logan, Lancaster, and Carbon Hill are the named service towns.

The trade-off is the one that comes with a dealer-shaped business. The website is a product catalog first and a repair page second, so expect to ask about pricing on the phone rather than read it.

And the hours on the contact page are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday closed. That’s a daytime, weekday shop, which suits a scheduled door replacement better than a Friday-night spring.

No verified phone number. Based on Carbon Hill Buchtel Road, Nelsonville.

G&G is the closest thing Nelsonville has to a hometown door shop, and it has no website. Its listings describe commercial and residential installation and repair, and the directories show it around the clock. We’re not printing a number because the ones in circulation don’t agree with each other, and this list only prints numbers confirmed from a company’s own site or Google listing. Search the name on Google Maps or Facebook and call the number shown there.

Worth the extra step if you’re in Nelsonville, Buchtel, or Glouster and want the shortest drive on this list after number one.

6. Atwood Door Company (Carroll)

Phone: (740) 756-7910. Based in Carroll, Fairfield County.

Atwood’s own site says thirty years working with residential and commercial property owners, and the commercial page is specific in a way most aren’t: steel doors with two-track springs, spring and cable repair, opener work, and perimeter seals to cut airflow through a loading bay. Its named service area is Carroll and Columbus, and it shows up in Athens commercial searches all the same.

The drive is close to an hour, so this is a plan-ahead pick rather than an emergency one. Where it makes sense is a commercial job where you want a second bid against number two, or a custom residential door where the Columbus-market selection is worth the wait.

7. City Garage Door Service (Athens area)

No verified phone number. No website.

City Garage Door Service is the shop people find on Google and HomeAdvisor rather than through a website, and it earns a spot because the reviews there are the kind you want: contact to finished job inside twenty-four hours, an hour of work on site. Directories list it under Athens and under Lancaster, which is why we’re not printing a base town with any confidence, and no phone number for the same reason as G&G. Find it on Google Maps and call what’s listed.

A reasonable choice for straightforward repair if the first two calls don’t answer, with the usual caution about any shop where you can’t read prices or hours in advance.

What to ask any garage door company before they roll a truck

Whichever number you dial, three questions sort the good calls from the expensive ones. Is there a trip fee, and does it fold into the repair if you go ahead?
