New doors & replacement

A new garage door, priced like a decision - not a chase.

A garage door is a third of most Athens house fronts, and it opens more often than the front door. When yours is due, you deserve three honest numbers - good, better, best - not a showroom funnel.

Good / better / best

Three ways to buy a door, all in writing

Good: plain steel

Single-layer steel, raised or flush panels, standard colors. The honest workhorse for detached garages and rentals - weather-tight, secure, and the budget number on your estimate.

Better: insulated steel

Double-layer with insulation, quieter and stiffer, real benefit on attached garages and anything with a bedroom above. The sweet spot for most Athens homes.

Best: carriage & custom

Carriage-house styles, windows, wood-look finishes - the doors that change how the house reads from the street. Priced per design, in writing, with samples you can hold.

Straight answers

Installation questions, answered plainly

How much does a new garage door cost installed?

In the Athens area: a plain single steel door typically lands at $800-$1,500 installed; a double runs $1,200-$2,500; insulated and carriage-style doors run $1,800-$3,500+. Old-door haul-away and new tracks are included in our quotes - the written estimate is the whole number, not a starting point.

Repair or replace - how do I decide?

Rough rule: if the repair costs more than a third of a comparable new door, or it's the second major repair on a door past 15 years, replacement usually wins. Rust through the bottom panels, cracked sections, and doors without safety cables are also replace territory. We'll price both paths and say which we'd pick at your house.

Are insulated garage doors worth it in Ohio?

If the garage is attached, has a room above it, or you work in it - yes. An insulated door takes the edge off southeast Ohio winters, cuts street noise, and feels sturdier day to day. On a detached garage that stores a mower, plain steel is honest value and we'll say so.

How long does installation take?

A straightforward single-door swap is usually done in half a day; doubles and doors with new tracks or an opener swap take most of a day. Lead time depends on the door: common sizes and colors arrive in about a week; custom carriage styles can take several.
